Lil Wayne Scheduled To Perform At The 2011 MTV VMA’s
As if we couldn’t have just assumed it ourselves, the hip hop heavyweight known as Lil Wayne will be one of the set performers at this year’s 2011 MTV Video Music Awards This August 28. With the release of his Sorry For The Wait mixtape and the hugely anticipated Tha Carter IV album drawing near, Wayne is on everyone’s most wanted performer list.
Without an official word from MTV, Wayne’s manager shared the news in a released statement So the Young Money head honcho will be storming the stage at the VMA’s, filmed live at the Downtown Los Angeles Nokia Theater August 28, at 9PM.
And for those of you that are sitting around waiting to know if the official Tha Carter 4 album will be pushed back any further, rest assured. It’s been said that Wayne’s latest solo endeavor will be available for download on iTunes immediately post-performance at the VMA’s. If that doesn’t draw in some extra viewers, we don’t know what will…

HOT SHOT: FRANK OCEAN IN STUDIO WITH JAY-Z
Following a series of photos featuring R&B newcomer, Frank Ocean, in the studio with certified hitmakers like Beyonce and Pharrell, this candid with hip hop legendJay-Z seems a welcomed addition to the collection. The shot is from a session for Jay-Z’s forthcoming solo album, which will feature a track with the singer/songwriter. Ocean, whose single, ‘Novacane’, is currently No. 19 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hopsongs chart, will also appear on Jay-Z and Kanye West’s upcoming ‘Watch The Thrown’ LP, due out August 2.

As if that wasn’t enough, the ‘I AM…Tour‘ concert DVD is this weeks #19 on the Official Music Video chart even though it was released 33 weeks ago.

Drake’s Universal Studios Concert Cancelled
Saturday’s scheduled concert featuring at Universal Studios has been cancelled due to a death in Drake’s family. The performance was to be the final one in the theme park’s Summer Concert Series. There will be no substitute performance. Drake’s representatives made this statement:
“We regret to announce that Drake will not be able to take the stage at Universal Orlando Resort due to a death in the family. He hopes that his fans understand the situation he finds himself in and know that he fully intends to return to the area in the future. He thanks Universal Orlando Resort and his fans for their continued support.”
